lyrics

Dear Dad,
I was never one to write these songs filled with such sad words of how you left my heart broken. I always thought you'd come to me, pick up all the pieces, and bring your love, bring it back to me.

Because you are missed, when you're so far away

Dear Father, can you hear me up in heaven? I never got the chance to tell you I'm going to be just fine. Dear Father, can you hear me up in heaven? Give me the last chance to tell you "I love you" one more time.

Dear Dad,
I wrote this letter for you to tell you how much I care, and to tell you how much I love you. You always know just what to say when it really matters, and you never fail at taking my breath away.

Because you are missed, when you're so far away

Dear Father, can you hear me up in heaven? I never got the chance to tell you I'm going to be just fine. Dear Father, can you hear me up in heaven? Give me the last chance to tell you "I love you" one more time.

I was never too late to write to you, because I had every intention to say these words to you. Now I'm too late, and now you're gone.

As I call out your name, I hope you look at me and smile because you're happy with who I am and who I have become.
